Notes from a road trip: the water

Conversations flow like water
of the vast golden sea at sunset
or perhaps the rippling of a lake at dusk
Purple and pink, as if it blushed.

She must have teased me, for I melted,
with the thought of someone new
Someone far away and waiting
His thoughts in ebb and flow.

In the calm of those waters we sailed
as the wind carried us afar
But as the upstream struggle struck
It only began anew
There is hope yet of another sailing
A sail with a different view.
