To life!

The lonely flame flickers,
in the inky darkness;
lighting up ever so softly
the carnations, blushing pink.
A lingering voice sings
a mellow note in strife,
as I take to my wings...
To life!

Nice, I like the hope filled end. This reminds me of my favorite Edna St. Vincent Millay poem:

"My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends -
It gives a lovely light."

On another note, discussing poetry with you takes me back to our last two years in school and our classes with Radhika Sinha and later Barnali's mom.
