The indomitable human spirit... (contd.)

The DJ was belting out saucy salsa numbers, even though the crowd wore thin, the tempo was upbeat. One look at the DJ and he's your regular freak, long hair with a nose ring and all the jazz associated with a DJ. A closer look and he's on crutches, being close to music and not dancing is quite unfathomable to me (can closely associate with Lee Ann Womack's or more recently sung by Ronan Keating's "I hope you dance"), i wonder how he balances his love of music and the hurdle of wanton dancing to its beats.

The crowd moves to his numbers creating a gentle touch of Cuba, and then he moves over from the DJ console and asks me for a dance. It's exhilarating to salsa with him, his smile captivates and his moves smooth over a pair of crutches and one leg. He guides me across the floor and plays the perfect partner. He makes up in spirit what he lacks in elan and humbles me, the music goes on and he's dancing like a butterly in springtime. As the music slowly fades away and we stop to look at each other, i see the burning flame of triumph in his eyes as if mocking me.

DJ Nikhil, you give so much more meaning to life...
